🐶 ILO (formerly known as Saphira, our precious gem) was once rescued from the horrors of war in Ukraine, was adopted and arrived in UK in the first weeks since war started. But while she fled there, she couldn’t escape bad fortune. Adopted more than 3 years ago through Paw Help, she now sadly finds herself in need once again—through absolutely no fault of her own. Her heart remains open, hopeful that someone kind will give her the quiet love she longs for.

💔 Rescue Story:
🐶 ILO's journey started in Ukraine, where she was rescued before the war started. Her name back then was Saphira—a name as elegant as she is. In early 2022, she arrived in the UK and joined what we hoped would be her forever family. But life changed. Her family separated. Her main caregiver had to leave her house and move to a small flat for work, and Ilo is left alone for long hours in a small flat. For a sensitive girl like her, this is simply too much.
Her current Mum shares:
“She is a very, very sweet girl, she loves to snuggle and is very affectionate, she’s just sadly had an owner that has let her down. I have put a lot of work into her behaviour issues (shy and not confident in busy environment), but she will need continued gentle management and reassurance in a busy environment.”
💖 Personality & Needs:
🐶 ILO is a truly gentle spirit. Once she knows she’s safe, she blossoms into a sweet, loyal companion. She is clever, loves to learn, and thrives on gentle routine. She knows her basic commands and responds beautifully to kindness.
At heart, Ilo is a homebody. She finds deep comfort in structured routine and the familiar—a soft bed, a trusted voice, and a quiet home. She isn’t a dog for busy households or sudden chaos, but for someone calm, loving, and willing to offer patience, she will be a joy.
She walks well on the lead, enjoys gentle play in the garden, and cuddles close once she trusts you. She can resource guard around food, so an experienced, adult-only home or one with older teens would be best.
🏡 Ideal Home:
🐶 Ilo would love a peaceful, stable home with someone around most of the day. She’d be happy as an only dog or with a calm companion dog. A secure garden. Peaceful environment would be ideal, and gentle guidance will help her continue to grow in confidence.
She’s not a dog for show—but a quiet treasure for those who look beneath the surface.
