Description

EXPERIENCED TERRIER OWNERS ONLY PLEASE AND THIS DOG CANNOT BE LEFT ALL DAY ON HIS OWN. It’s with great sadness. I’m looking to find a new home for my dog. No fault of his own, but I’m going through a marriage separation and things are about to get very disrupted and also my work commitments have changed which means I can’t be at home as much as I used to and no will no longer have the support of my wife! He is fully house trained. Eats Harringtons Just 6 chicken dry kibble morning and evening. With a Bugalugs grain free dental stick as a treat at lunch time. This will need to continue in his new home as can’t change his diet and we have found what works for him. He is ȘLEM clear but has to be on a fully gluten/grain free diet, common for his breed, he has CECS. Which he shows no symptoms when on the right diet and has to have certain flea and worm treatment that doesn’t include yeast as most tablets do, he is on standard flea/worm treatment via pipete which is included in any standard vet health plan. He also loves raw broccoli, sugar snap peas or even frozen peas as a treat hahaha! He is castrated and fully up-to-date with his vaccinations, flea and worm tablets, you will be able to obtain his full record from our vets. He is a fully healthy and happy go lucky dog. He is microchipped and registered to me currently which will need to be transferred over to you at your cost if there is one. He is lead walked twice a day and needs walks to burn energy. He loves to chasing a lunge whip out on the morning walk to get out all his chase instincts and energy. Was recommended to me by a dog trainer and he loves it. But I don’t do it every day. He has completed many 5k runs including ParkRuns. He loves running in a pack and I think he would be good at agility. He also loves riding upfront on my bicycle in a basket. I call him Mr. Ploppy as he tends to do 3 small poo’s on a walk rather than all in one go. So I have learnt not to throw the bag away too soon haha! His poo’s are nice and clean if you get what I mean. Not like trying to pick up nutella! He loves toys but only for short ‘toy time’ periods and then they are taken away from him as terriers can get toy obsessed, which he is not as I have always adopted this technique. He could live with dogs but no cats or any small furry pets as he is a typical terrier. He could live with older kids as long as the kids are confident and experienced with terriers and know not to be high energy around him. He is used to someone working at home all week so has not been left for any longer than 3-4 hours since we have had him at 3 months old. Ideally this routine would need to carry on. So please be mindful of this before you contact me. He will definitely need a morning walk before he is left. He sleeps most of the day as long as he’s had his morning walk. He is fine with other dogs but I walk him on the lead as he loves humans too much and I haven’t been able to train the jumping up greeting out of him which he might occasionally do. This is the fault of humans coming over unannounced to greet him because he is a handsome and cute dog people think it’s ok to come over and fuss him. So he has learnt since a puppy people give him lots of attention. It’s always friendly and he’s not an aggressive dog in anyway. I think this could be trained out of him I just haven’t been able to. He can meet and walk with dogs and people fine on walks. Just the odd occasion when off the lead he has jumped up and it wasn’t well received so I just didn’t want that confrontation. If we are walking somewhere remote I let him off and his recall with Harringtons grain free treats is brilliant. He also weirdly seems to like discarded chewing gum (disgusting humans) so found keeping him in the lead in urban areas stops him trying to eat that on walks hahaha. He only barks at the doorbell and if he hears another dog barking outside when he’s in his home. But doesn’t last very long. He doesn’t bark on walks unless he gets too excited when we first leave the house, but doesn’t last long as it’s more a ‘hello I’m out to play’ bark as he is more interesting in sniffing and weeing, classic border terrier behaviour. He sleeps in his crate all the way through at night on his own in the lounge in the dark from around 10pm to 6am. But does love a sofa cuddle after he’s done his daily zoomies after dinner and evening walk. He moans in the car but will sit clipped in his car seat. Most of the time he sleeps on the return journey in the car, it’s only when we travel too somewhere he’s a bit of a wuss. He regularly goes to a dog sitter overnight who has 2 other dogs and just sleeps with them in a bed. And goes to a dog friendly coffee shop, pub and brewery. And once settled is pretty chill. His coat is regularly hand stripped and being done again on 27/05/25. Costs about £50 unless you can do it yourself. He will be 2 years old in July so still coming out of his teenage years so is still a bit nuts from time to time but in a good way. He has certainly calmed down a lot and he is through most of his puppy stage now. He will come with all his belongings, crate, bed, blanket, car seat, food, bowls, toys, leads, current flea and worm treatment, shampoo, brushes, teeth cleaning stuff, poo bags, etc. I am only charging an amount to attract the right person to rehome him. This is a very difficult decision so please be compassionate and considerate with your communication. He’s a right little character and will be another massive hole in my life and I am very sad right now.
