Description
This is Ziggy a lively, excitable, cuddly 5 month old Duchund.
Please read fully before you contact us.
Unfortunately we are having to find him a new home as my wife ended up needing emergency surgery the week we collected him and despite our best efforts it's been a struggle with her recovery and pain since and her health still isn't great so she is finding it really hard with a puppy, including having difficulty bonding with him.
We have sadly been unable to give Ziggy the time, attention and training he needs and deserves because of the extra time and difficulties surrounding my wife's ongoing illness and disabilities.
Due to this Ziggy still needs work tackling normal puppy behaviour like mouthing, chewing and unwanted barking.
He isn't fully house broken although he's made good progress and will not need much work to achieve this.
He's a fast learner and with the right person and training he will be the most amazing family pet and companion.
Please be aware he is a puppy and boisterous, he will jump up and is also still play biting and teething so although his bites are not intended to, they can hurt and this should be considered if you have younger children.
He is chipped and up to date with his worming and flea treatment but he has only had his first injection despite us taking him out.
He will come with his chip paperwork as well as his jab information, nothing was ever changed over from the breeder and his free insurance never activated because of the circumstances with my wife's health surrounding the time he came home and since then.
He has been vet checked as a puppy and is in great health with neither parent having any hip problems or anything that may negatively impact the health of Ziggy.
He's just starting to learn about the outside world and other dogs, although he is a little nervous about it he's friendly and curious with other dogs and people.
He comes with his collar, lead, (Harness needs upgrading as outgrown it) blanket, bowls, toys, grooming stuff, poo bags, a little food, loads of treats etc
We paid £1000 for him as although not KC registered he is full pedigree but we want a good home more importantly than anything so are asking £250 for him just to assure he goes to the right people and he's not taken on a whim or by the wrong type of person as he really is a special little dog and deserves a great home!
This also shows that you are able to cover the costs of owning a dog and any unexpected costs that can sometimes occur.
We would prefer a home with people either familiar and experienced with the breed or someone who is looking for this particular breed and has researched.
We will accept cash for him once everyone is happy that Ziggy is the right dog for you.

Cons
Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
