It is with such a heavy heart that I have decided to re home my 15 month old male Golden Retriever.
He is a very sweet boy who absolutely adores children, to the point where he watches when children walk away and does a deep sigh…
I know how much love my last dog brought into our family and how much we loved him, I want to find that for him. It absolutely must be a house with children in it.
Currently at home I just have my 22 year old son, who is often not here, my husband and myself.
I don’t think he is unhappy but I know he could be happier.
He has zero problem behaviours, loves the cat, all dogs he meets and even my 3 chickens. He is always clean in the house and never destroys anything (unlike my last dog!)
He walks well on the lead and currently sleeps on my bedroom floor (or my bed)
I decided a couple of months ago to put him forward as a Pets for Therapy dog which he passed first time, meaning he can go into schools, hospitals etc. I thought that he could get his ‘need for children’ met that way but I know in my heart 2 hours, once a week is not going to be the same as living with a family and having a child or children that are ‘his’ own.
I’m not going to let him go to anyone though. I want to meet the family and have them meet him then return on another date to collect him. That way I can prepare myself and him.
He got many years ahead of him and I want him to get the very best from those years.
