Looking for a tiny friend to brighten your days? Meet Nimbus our adorable rescue hamster ! This little ball of fluff is full of personality and ready to find a loving forever home !
About him: Nimbus was rescued from a family, where a child had lost interest, however he was handled regularly and looked after well ! He loves a good cuddle and is at ease around children, my two year old can hold him without any issues ! Please make sure your hands are washed before holding him as he will nibble but won’t bite.
He needs: (examples are in pictures above)
- 100x50x50 Bar-less setup (must provide pictures)
- 28cm upright wheel
- 8+ inches of deep safe bedding
- Multi-chamber hide, ceramic hide (a few different ones to hide well in)
- large sand bath
- A species specific food mix
- sprays and forage
- Plenty of safe chews (including whimzee’s)
- Logs & Branches
- Protein mix along with his food, dried mealworms, crickets and chicken
- Playpen or out of setup time

Useful information to know
- Hamsters are crepuscular animals which means they are most active at dawn/dusk
- In the wild they run many miles a night despite their small size, so it’s important to give them a large floor space in captivity to
- Hamsters are burrowing animals, creating tunnels as deep as 2 metres in the wild.
- Hamsters respiratory systems are highly sensitive, so scented bedding should never be used
- Wood shavings sold in pet shops are commonly made from softwoods like pine or cedar. Both can cause respiratory infections due to chemicals called phenols, which irritate a hamsters lungs
- Buying a cage online is the best option as finding suitable enclosures in a pet shop or similar is very difficult. Be aware that “extra large” setups are often far too small.
- Hamsters balls are sold and recommended by major pet shops but that doesn’t make them safe. However instead you can use a dry bath tub or a cluttered play pen
