It’s with a heavy heart we’re looking to move on our beloved roach… I’ve had roach since he was just a yearling and have started his backing process, selling due to no fault of his own but I’m too heavy for him.
Roach is extremely cuddly soppy and sweet, he loves to give a kiss and have a fuss, incredible for his feet (I trim him myself and have had farriers trim him too).
Roach has started being backed and has taken to it very well, he’s actually quite lazy but can have the odd grumpy moment as he’s still a youngster and believes he knows better! 🫣
We’re in no rush to move him on as the home is more important than anything to us, he has a lot of potential but does have some rather unfortunate confirmation in the front legs that makes him toe in a fair amount.
He’s hacked out in company a few times and done very well.
He has a gentle nature and has been ridden bridles, bareback, by novices and has been lead around by children.
Thus far he has only been ridden in a walk and trot as I’m a bit too heavy for him, he’s even lead another pony around the school before!
We’d be extremely sad to see him go but his health comes first and I’m just too heavy for him even with my attempts at losing weight, he would suit a light weight confident rider to give him the knowledge and experience he needs.
Roach does have some pretty unfortunate confirmation in the front legs that makes him toe in, we’ve been advised that everyday activities are absolutely fine but roach will not be able to jump to a high level due to this, extremely high stress on these front legs could cause him some issues, as a prevention we tend to polo wrap his legs during more intense activities and he’s been fine with this.
Roach is sold as seen, we are definitely open to viewing but our school is only a grass area so please keep that in mind.
We are also open to vettings of course.
The home is the most important thing for us, roach needs a confident light weight adult or teenage girl who’s got lots and lots of love to give him, the lowest we will accept is to be discussed with a potential new owner but please dont hesitate to give us an offer if you truly are interested in him.
