Tibetan Mastiffs are impressive and noble looking dogs with an extremely thick, double coat and a large, bushy tail that the dogs carry curled over their backs. They are powerful, well built and although they may seem slow and heavy, Tibetan Mastiffs they can display good speed when they need it. They are definitely not a good choice for first time owners because although these dogs are stunning, they need to be handled well and trained by someone familiar with the breed or a similar type of dog.

Tibetan Mastiffs are not specifically banned under UK breed-specific legislation such as the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, which targets breeds like Pit Bull Terriers and Japanese Tosas. Therefore, Tibetan Mastiffs are generally legal to own in the UK, but owners must ensure their dog is controlled and kept safe in accordance with UK law.
