The Field Spaniel is one of the lesser known dogs of the spaniel type, although he used to be often seen in the show ring, as he was bred specifically for showing and not for working as a hunting dog. Today, Field Spaniels is classified as an endangered domestic breed by the Kennel Club, although they are a good choice not only as show dogs, but also as companion and family dogs.
