Description
This is such a hard decision for me but I genuinely think rehoming is the best option for him right now.
His name is Richard, he was born on Christmas day 2023. He's very particular, not very affectionate at all despite my attempts since his birth to adjust him to it. Despite his anti-social soul, he is so hard not to love. He's interesting and bright and his droopy chin characterises him so perfectly. His hairlessness means that he would do best in a cage with rats that have shorter nails whether those are clipped by the owner or with lava rocks, because he is less protected from injuries and is more susceptible to them. He gets dry very easily so he will need to be moisturised often. Coconut oil is a very good option. He also would do best in a cage that has a lot of soft bedding instead of woodchips and hay due to his sensitive skin and lack of protection from cold temperatures.
The reason I'm passing him on is because his cagemate died a few weeks ago and unfortunately, throughout my consistent efforts to find him a new cage mates, I've not been able to find anyone suitable...He does better than most rats on his own but he still deserves company, a family. I really hope for him to join a mischief of sweet rats that will be kind to him with an empathetic and lovely owner that will love and cherish him despite his peculiarities and respect his boundaries.
Please, if you're interested in him, can you send me your cage set up? I would like to get to know a little about you as well before deciding. Also please note that if you're collecting, you'll need to bring your own carrier. ♡
