Description

Please read the full description of Teddy before messaging. Teddy is a 2 year old un neutered boy, he’s light and dark brown in colour, he’s so cute and loving and does a strange thing I’ve never encountered with dogs, where if I lay down, he likes to lay on my neck and mouth and almost smother me. I’ve been told it’s either a safety thing for him to know I’m still breathing or it’s a way of him to show his love. He’s perfect on walks when nobody is around, he doesn’t stop and sniff everything going and usually just gets a smell of something and tracks it until he gets distracted. At home (I live in a flat) he mostly sleeps or follows me around when I’m up and moving, I am currently working on leaving him alone for longer and longer to help with the following and crying when I’m not by his side. I’ve only had Teddy for around 10 days after being told about him needing to be rehomed from friends in Swansea, and they knew I’d been looking for a Dachshund for a while. I drove down from Worksop where Teddy is now located, I spent half of a day with him and brought him home. About me, I’m 39 years old, I don’t work due to mental health so I take him out regularly and we average between 7 - 10 km a day in walks. I think dogs are better than most humans and I do have such a genuine bond with Teddy, but I’ve been naive with the time a dog needs and the lack of garden is a big issue. Teddy is amazing on a walk when it’s just me and him but as soon as he see’s someone, he just barks and barks, the same issue with dogs, cyclist’s and recently he’s started barking and lunging towards moving vehicles. The other issue is possible attachment anxiety although the more I leave him alone for periods of time, the more I can help with that for the future. Ive also noticed his doesn’t get on will all dogs. Since owning him, he’s enjoyed spending time with a boy and a girl Shih Tzu, a boy Dachshund and a puppy girl Cockapoo. I also tried to introduce Teddy to a Staffy and a French bulldog which ended with a lot of barking and aggression from both sides. I think someone with good Dachshund or dog experience, someone with a big garden or someone with mental health who would spend a lot of time with him would be beneficial to taking him on but I’m also not just going to give Teddy away to anyone that messages me, I would like to get to know you and your dog background before making my mind up and if nothing comes from this then I will keep him. Offers are welcome and I don’t mind bringing him to meet you and see how he gets on with you or other dogs before a deal is done.
