Description

Meet this beautiful little girl, three-year-old Hazelnut born in July 2022. She is a striking chocolate brown with silver dapple markings and weighs just 6.5kg, making her a small but mighty companion. She is spayed. True to her breed, she is incredibly affectionate and devoted to her person. She would happily climb into your skin if she could and loves nothing more than giving enthusiastic face-to-face kisses! She thrives on closeness and would suit someone who enjoys a cuddly, people-oriented dog. She is a very active Dachshund who absolutely adores her walks. Long hikes are her idea of heaven, and she has fantastic off-lead recall, with the occasional irresistible squirrel or bird exception. She would happily play fetch all day and is far more motivated by toys than food, making play a brilliant training and bonding tool for her. She is intelligent, eager, and full of personality, but she does have her challenges. She can be anxious and reactive around unfamiliar dogs and people, particularly on walks. She takes longer to warm up to men, although she often ends up preferring them once she feels safe. Introductions need to be calm and gentle, but once she has made friends, she settles well. She would benefit from a home that can offer quieter walking areas and understands reactive behaviour. She does bark and lunge when overwhelmed, but ongoing training using play and a squeaky ball has already shown promising improvement. With patience, consistency, and understanding, she has real potential to continue progressing. This little girl would suit an experienced, committed owner who can offer her structure, reassurance, and plenty of adventure, alongside lots of love and cuddles. In the right home, she will be a deeply loyal, fun-loving, and rewarding companion. Reluctant rehome due to unsuitable home environment and wanting what is best for her. More than happy to have Hazel back at any point if needs be, including holiday stays.
