Description
Kara,
Kara is a really sweet natured girlie at 6 Years young (she still thinks that she is 10 months old). Kara's story is as follows please read to the end.
Kara came to me as an emergency foster 6 months ago, her owner had her booked into to be put to sleep due to a falling out with the other Bitch in the home, both were not spayed and hormones got the better of them, they were raised together from 8 weeks with only a month between them in age up untill the were 5 years old, sadly one of the owners (Kara's main care giver died) leaving her other owner bereft and feeling unable to manage the two highly active dogs together and they started fighting.
When Kara first arrived she was highly reactive to both dogs and people but then 3 weeks later she came into season/heat which wasn't in my plans! So her emergency foster became much longer than as I won't re-home any animal intact, following her season Kara stopped being reactive almost overnight, proving my theory that her reactive behaviour was hormone related (previous owner didn't believe in spaying dogs) but the reality is this could have been fixed a lot sooner, since then as you will see in my pictures I have been able to introduce her to other dogs almost without any hitches sometimes a muzzle was needed for slower introductions, Kara is fully muzzle and head collar trained. Kara can greet other dogs politely however, she does does wish to share her toys or food, so Kara needs to be an only dog in the home, Kara is very ball orientated and will do anything for it, she is on the higher end of active, and gets very excited to go for walks and initially can be quite strong even with a head collar so she will need an active home with strong owners.
Kara is everything a German shepherd dog is traits wise, she's vocal, whingey, strong minded, active, willing to learn, and very social around people, dogs she can take or leave, she also lives with cats and seems to be okay with them although never left unsupervised.
Kara is fully crate trained now, she wasn't when she arrived but due to the safety off the other dogs here it has been imperative to keep everyone safe when unsupervised. Kara lives for her food and lives for praise and interactions. Kara is now spayed and fully vaccinated (her owner didn't believe in these either) and vet checked, she is approximately 0.5kg overweight but slowly it's coming off.
Kara is dying for someone to give her their undivided attention.
The donation I'm asking for helps towards but doesn't cover the full medical bills and will be recycled towards the next foster dog.
