We are heartbroken to be looking for a new home for our French Bulldog, who is nearly five years old. He is a beautiful dog with lots of character and affection to give, but unfortunately he is not suited to living in a household with children.
He has a tendency to resource guard items that drop to the floor, including food and objects, and will guard these if approached. He is very food-orientated and will steal food if it is left within reach. When he feels uncomfortable or threatened, he may give a warning snap. This is not with the intent to bite, but it is a clear signal that he needs space.
He was rehomed to us four months ago and has since been chemically castrated. Despite our efforts, it has become clear that his needs cannot be safely met in a busy family environment with children. For everyone’s safety — particularly our children’s — we feel it is in his best interests to find him a more suitable home.
We believe he would thrive in an adult-only household, ideally with experienced owners who understand resource guarding behaviours and can provide a calm, structured environment. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but it is being made out of love and responsibility, to ensure he has the chance to live a safe and happy life in the right setting.
