Description

Bertie is a 10 month old dog who was purchased by my daughter at 8 weeks of age. However, this was against my advice as my daughter lives in a flat with her young children. It has been established during my daughters ownership of Bertie that he is not suitable around children. This has resulted in me having Bertie at my house for the past four weeks. Unfortunately I work full time and now need to find Bertie a loving home with the right person who is used to dealing with a dachshund. I've had jack russells most of my adult life and am surprised how different a dachshund is. Ive done a lot of research around this breed and and they appear to be a stubborn and hard headed breed. I even found they are actually dwarf dogs so they think they are bigger than what they are. Bertie's not so good points: he barks very loudly and at everything that moves outside my house. He is stubborn and rarely listens when his name is called. He gets moody at times and goes to nip at people, particularly when he's tired. Bertie will wee and poo in the house even when he's been in my garden. Im saying the above negatives as I want to be honest and get the right person for Bertie who can put the time in to try and train him. Ideally he needs to have someone home with him during the day, a home worker, house person, or someone who is retired. A garden would be best. Berties good points: he is a beautiful looking dog with a lovely coat. He enjoys playtime and running round the house doing what I refer to as the room circuit where he tears around at speed. He loves snuggling up to the person closest to him, is affectionate and loyal. I am only asking a fee so Bertie goes to a good home and this will prove to me any prospective owner will have the financial means to look after Bertie properly. He is microchipped. Bertie has not yet been neutered. If you've read this far and are interested, please note the potential challenges of owning a dachshund. This is why ideally Bertie needs an owner who is used to handling dachshunds and understands them. Thankyou.
