American Bullies were developed as companion dogs, and although American Pit Bull Terriers were originally used in breeding programmes, American Bullies are now recognised as a completely different and distinct breed. They have a very similar "look" and "build", but it is now recognised that American Bullies are quite unique in that their temperament is much calmer and more relaxed than their pit bull counterparts, thanks to the use of American Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and Olde English Bulldogges in their breeding.
