The aristocratic Borzoi is native to Russia, where they were used to hunt wolves. Their name means "nimble" in Russian, and just looking at these elegant dogs with their lean, athletic build gives you an idea of how fast they are when it counts. The first person to own a Borzoi in Britain was Queen Alexandra, when she was given one by the Tsar of Russia. From then on, the breed became a much respected and popular dog throughout the country and elsewhere in the world.
