Description

Hi all, We rehomed a 1 year old Frug a few days ago as the original owners were unable to walk him and give him the time he needs. Since coming home with us, at first him and my dog got on but over the past day or two he’s started asserting more dominance in the house, marking his territory then humping our other dog, our dogs very sweet but I can see it’s a bit too much for him. My initial thought for him trying to be more dominant is because we have quite a big dog and when we first brought the frug in he was a bit nervous and then he realised that our dogs very sweet is a softy he’s then become more dominant one and just bothering him. Another thing is he’s very playful which we love and have no issue with but he’s also a bit jumpy which doesn’t bother us so much but because we have a one year old he doesn’t realise he’s a bit bigger than her and he keeps knocking her over. Obviously not in a vicious way more just not realising than anything. Because he is very gentle and good with her otherwise. Though he’s just playful with our dog and not aggressive I think he will be better to go either to an only pet home which is where he was at before or a home with a smaller dog where maybe he feels less like he needs to be so dominant. I would also recommend a house where the child is a bit older maybe 5 plus as then they’re less likely to be knocked over by him. He’s not aggressive in any way shape or form, nor is he badly behaved. Since being here he’s not been destructive or anything like this and I have no concern on that side. It’s literally just because of these two things. We have tried contacting the original owners to take him back but unfortunately I believe we’ve been ghosted. We are based in Preston. Please comment below if you want a message for more information, I want to avoid putting him in shelters but am also aware of dog baiting so I will be thorough before I let him go to anywhere.
