Description

Bryony was found on the streets in Romania in August 2024 in her time in shelter she was a kind and friendly dog and happy to meet people and dogs, she was offered the chance to move into a foster home in March 25. Bryony is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. Bryony when in the UK can ne anxious meeting new people in the home and can bark, she can also bark and growl at people passing the garden. These seems to be out of wariness rather than aggression she would be best left in her safe space and introduced to visitors in a controlled way. She has met with visitors outside of the house and has had an incident with a lunge where treats were involved to help with bonding and Bryony attempted to bite when the person reached for treats. This has been an isolated incident but it is felt Bryony would do best with a slower and careful approach to meeting visitors. She met a 7 year old in Romania and was great with them but due to her being a bit more nervous we would want Bryony to live with older dog savvy children of 12+ that would allow Bryony her own time and space as she is generally a calm dog when settled. Bryony enjoys spending time with other dogs in the home and is happy meeting them on walks she will growl in response to being growled at but has not initiated this. She gets along better with male dogs and will play with them whilst with females she is more reserved but still friendly. She has not met cats and has shown a prey drive for rabbits and squirrels. As with all dogs meeting new animals, children and adults slow, sensible and supervised visits should be in place. Bryony is toilet trained and crate trained. She can be left for several hours during the day and will settle after a couple of barks when initially left. She settles well for sleep overnight in the kitchen with access to her open crate available to her. She has not been destructive. She has not yet travelled in a car in the UK. She enjoys going for walks and pulls to begin with but soon settles and walks nicely, she shows no concern passing people and dogs, is happy to say hello to dogs but would prefer to avoid dogs that react to her. She has walked along busy roads with no worries and passed horses, livestock and cats with no worries also. Bryony's foster says ' Bryony loves her food especially chicken and its very motivating for her. Once she knows she can trust you she is very friendly and loving and enjoys a fuss and will follow you around but will just lay and relax near to you. When she knows you she can be bouncy and playful but knows to stop when told which usually makes her roll over for belly rubs. She is mostly ok with household sounds but is not sure about the vacuum and washing machine and prefers to be elsewhere when they are in use. She likes to play with friendly dogs but is happy by herself too. She enjoys toys like snuffle mats, kongs, teddys and rope toys. When she first arrived she was looking for places to escape so will need to be secure until familiar with where she is. She enjoys pottering around having sniffs and going for walks twice a day'.
