Description

Melody is a female black Labrador, she’s smaller than the classic English one so think she is a gun dog type lab. . She was our first dog. She is fantastic to train. She knows many tricks including sit, paw, high five, lay down, roll over, middle, orbit, circle, forwards and backwards. She has a high motivation food drive. She goes for wee and poop on command say ‘go wee wee’ ‘go poo’. Melody is very loving and loves attention from humans and other dogs. However if it is a dog she doesn’t know sometimes she will pull and lunge to the dog as she is over excited . She is absolutely fine at the vets she just gets nervous around the other dogs there but if you give her lots of treats and good praise she is getting better and better. We used to go to our local dog park so she can play with other dogs which she adores. She likes to go to the pet shop and hoover up all the treats off the floor. Mel is medium breed size she weighs 19.2kg. She is flead, wormed, chipped, jabbed and had kennel cough. Mel is crate trained, house trained, travels perfectly in the car. She loves our boat and she loves long walks. She adores the beach. She also loves the sofa. She has a corner in the sofa and she always lays there. She is also allowed on our bed but if we say she has to lay on her bed she is very obedient and goes to her bed to sleep. Mel is great with small animals and cats I have two bunnies and the neighbour had a cat and she roams around with my bunnies. Another bad habit of Mel is she eats all other animal poo, particularly dogs. She loves toy bones to chew. She shreds soft toys. She loves her kong and her food. Food is her whole world. Mel loves a pup cup. Mel doesn’t steal anything in the house etc, she is impeccably behaved in the home. She does bark when someone comes to the door to let us know someone is at her home. Her off lead recall is very good and she usually comes back first time you ask her as I reward everytime she does. Mel needs long walks and she loves to swim. She also needs a lot of mental stimulation. She LOVES training and would be great at trail running or agility etc. Mel currently lives with our other dog Hazel. They get on very well and play together nicely but Mel often misses out on the attention etc she deserves as she lets out other dog bully her. Mel can be nervous at times as we believe she has been hit in her past home. If you made a sudden move she will dash away and hide. She can be left alone in her crate when we go out, if left out of the crate she is destructive usually but it’s getting better as she has got older. The crate is her safe space to sleep and relax. However she does not like to be in it at night. She sleeps in our room at night. We love Mel dearly and I would like to keep Mel. Mel is my baby and I will be devastated to see her find a new home but if this is what is best for her if someone can offer better than we can and more time love and attention then that is what I would like for her. Mel is short haired and likes a little groom, we don’t clip her nails etc ourselves we take her to the vet to do this. Melody will sit nicely when out for a meal etc at the pub, she travels well on the train too. She is good in busy places also shops etc like the range where you can take dogs. Mel has had limited exposure to children as no one we know has any however our neighbours 6 years old little girl plays with her outside and she is fine. We want to prioritise Mel’s wellbeing and I am struggling to walk both of our dogs together and unfortunately I don’t have the time they need for me to be able to adequately walk them separately. I am getting unfortunately very very stressed out by the dogs and we have decided it is best if we find a new home for one of them so they can get the attention and time they need to be able to be trained. I have tried my very best the past few months and I am heart broken this has come to this. We are looking for a small rehoming fee to ensure she goes to a genuine home where people will be happy to put the time, money and effort into her. She has everything she needs to go to her new home with if required.
