Description

Unfortunately, we are having to rehome our adorable yellow Labrador Milo. He is 2 years old, considered a "Dudley" due to having a chocolate grandfather which gives Milo a distinctive light brown nose and eyes rather than the usual black colour. He is super cuddly, dopey and fun. Generally a big teddy bear who craves love and attention from everyone with the occasional zoomies. He does need quite a bit of work with socialising and manners as he still has a tendency to pull towards other dogs and people (including jumping up at people) because he wants all of the attention and cuddles. As with most labs, he also loves to steal laundry (probably for attention or creating a game). Before his first birthday he was diagnosed and treated for hip and elbow dysplasia. Treatment included pain and anti-inflammatory medication as well as regular hydrotherapy appointments. When last seen by the vet, the vet commented that he was much happier with Milo's range of motion in his joints and Milo is also no longer showing any signs of pain, however, this may still be an issue in the future which needs to be managed correctly. He ideally will do best in a home with older or no children due to his excitement but younger children aren't necessarily an issue (ours are 5 and 10 who he is fine with, but he can get very excited around their friends as they are new people). He may also be best being the only pet. He may be absolutely fine with other dogs in the house but he hasn't spent that much time with other dogs and so finds meeting other dogs extremely exciting. He has never shown aggression towards other dogs, and has in fact backed off when other dogs have warned him for being too much, but we cant guarantee that it would be a calm environment for your current dogs (at least at first anyway, im sure once he's settled he would be in his element with a doggy friend/sibling). The reason we are having to look at rehoming is because my wife and I have recently separated and she is having to start a full time job, all of this along with two young children, and myself not having found my own place where pets are allowed as well as also working full time, simply means that we cannot give him the life he deserves as we would not have the time to walk/exercise him properly and he would spend most of the day alone at home in his crate (he is crate trained but not ready to be left home out of his crate as he will probably get into laundry etc). This is honestly our worst case scenario as we cannot afford to pay for someone to walk him when we can't, and even if we did, it would be out for a walk and back in his crate until someone is home. Which just isnt fair to such a happy, loving, cuddly ball of goofy fluff. As loveable, adorable and cuddly as he is, his new owner will need to be prepared to put in the effort to help him with his reactivity towards people passing by the home, his excitement meeting new people and dogs, and walking at a nice pace (still trying to train walking to heel but he keeps needing to be infront sniffing everything, almost as if he thinks if he doesn't get to it first then he'll miss his chance). You will also need to be prepared for any issues that may arise regarding his hip and elbow dysplasia, as I mentioned he is not showing any signs of issues right now but x-rays showed that it is present and may become an issue again in the future. I'm not sure how this would work in terms of insurance and pre-existing conditions. Please get in touch if you genuinely believe that you can give Milo the life that we can no longer offer him. This is going to be an extremely difficult thing for us to go through and so we may be quite heavy on questions for you as we want to be sure that we are sending him to somewhere he will get everything he needs and deserves. He will come with his crate, bedding, food, treats, toys etc. He is currently on Wilsons cold pressed food which is roughly £60 a month and has been the best food for him.
