💙 Dexter – 6-year-old Staffy x Labrador looking for a loving home
With very heavy hearts, we are looking to rehome our beautiful boy, Dexter.
Dexter is a 6-year-old Staffy cross Labrador and a truly lovely, gentle soul. He is excellent with children, very affectionate, and calm around the home. He’s the sort of dog who just wants to be close to his people—happy to curl up next to you on the bed, sit quietly by your feet while you work, or lean in for a cuddle whenever he gets the chance.
He walks well overall (though he can pull a little on the lead), and his recall is fairly good. Dexter was bought just before lockdown and, due to COVID restrictions, unfortunately missed out on some early socialisation with other dogs. He is generally fine with them but can be a bit fussy at times and appreciates having his own space. He’s not a dog who enjoys being constantly pestered, but he will always come to you when he wants affection.
This decision has been incredibly difficult. We’ve recently had a baby and are due another very soon, and we’ve had to be honest with ourselves that we no longer have the time or space Dexter truly deserves. He isn’t getting the attention and inclusion he should have, and that doesn’t feel fair on him. This is a decision we’ve thought about for a long time and one that has been absolutely heartbreaking.
Dexter will not be rehomed to just anyone. We’d like to meet potential adopters to ensure it’s the right fit, and we’d really appreciate the occasional update or photo so we can see how he’s getting on. Letting him go is extremely emotional for us, but our priority is finding him a loving, stable home where he can thrive.
Dexter is a wonderful companion dog who deserves a family with the time, love, and space to give him the life he truly deserves.
