Description

Due to changes in our lives and commitments we are looking for a new forever home for Beau. Beau is a 19 months old, male, alaskan malamute. Beau has been with us since he was 12 weeks old He is fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and wormer treatments. He is being neutered on 01/08/25. Beau is a typical stubborn, independent mal and needs a VERY experienced owner. He can be very misunderstood. He's been well socialised, attended endless puppy classes and doggy day care, despite this Beau can be difficult when out on walks, he walks well on the lead, however he can be very vocal and can cone across aggressive. He isn't, he's loud and seems to not respect other dogs boundaries. Because of this only my partner and the dog walker can walk Beau. This is an extremely difficult decision and if the malamute charities could help we would not be considering this. We did work with a few husky/malamute rescues earlier this year and one did find him a home. Unfortunately the charity were not honest with the new owners, meaning Beau spent 24 hours with them before being returned. This has left Beau traumatised and since has never got back into a car/van. Beau does not like the car and despite many attempts we've not been able to get him in a car for few months now. This has meant he's not been professionally groomed for some time, we've done it at home so now he has developed a new fear of grooming. Beau is in a good routine of 2 walks a day, a good 1.5 hours at a time, without his walks he is very vocal in the house and gets bored quickly. He loves long chewing natural treats, his favourite is a trachea. Beau sleeps downstairs by the front door in the evening and often likes to spend some time in the garden where it's cool. Beau has lived with children and cats since he was a puppy, however he's not particularly good with them. He chases cats and can be too boisterous around kids. Beau is not an easy dog, he needs lots of time, patience and attention. Despite us already having one malamute and a husky/mal who we lost two years ago we feel very unexperienced and can't give him what he needs. Anyone interested in Beau will need to understand the difficult situation we are in and that we would need to know where Beau is going, including introductions, meet ups and seeing where he will he living. Don't particularly want any money for Beau but feel an amount of money would ensure I know someone is serious about taking him on. The money asked would be donated to the Dogs Trust.
