Description

Rex is our 15 month old German Shepherd male pup who has been part of our family since he was 8 weeks old. He originally lived with my partners mother and was her dog. However, due to Rex’ size and his jumping up he wasn’t suitable for her sadly as she has mobility issues and couldn’t manage with him. We sadly have to rehome Rex ourself due to the fact he is a male and we have our own German Shepherds, but they are all females and we cannot keep a male with them as he is not neutered. We chose not to get him neutered as we don’t know what the next owner would like to do with him. We have had a successful litter from Rex and he has proven he has it in him to produce fantastic offspring. In the long term though, we have decided that breeding is not something we want to do all of the time as it is very time consuming and it’s very difficult to manage a home, business and personal life and juggle everything all at once. Having dogs is what we want, but unfortunately we don’t want to keep having to keep our girls separated all of the time as it’s not fair on them either. This has been such a difficult decision to make as Rex is such a loving and caring boy who hasn’t got a bad bone in his body. He’s fabulous with other dogs and is absolutely superb with children! He does jump up still as he is only 15 months old and still very much a puppy, however with the right training he will make a superb and fantastic pet and addition to any family. He is up to date with all vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. We will be very sad to see him go and want him to go to the very best home, so if you think you are capable and able to give him the home he deserves, please give us a message and we can discuss further and see if you and Rex are both suitable for each other. We ask that you understand that he jumps up upon greeting you and this is very common in GSD’ pups and they crave attention and want lots of love and strokes and cuddles. He is not a guard dog and we do not want him to be rehomed for someone with the intention of using him for that purpose. He’s always been kept indoors with our family as a Pet and that’s what we expect the new owners to do. He loves walks and is very good on the lead and in his Julius K9 harness. He has fair recall, however his road sense is not suitable for a busy main road as he gets distracted and wanders if he sees something. He’s brilliant in a field or on a track when walking as he will stick by your side and if you throw a ball for him he will retrieve and fetch it for you. We’ve raised him to be good with children, but again the jumping up can sometimes intimidate children who haven’t been raised around big dogs, so you will have to have kids that are used to big dogs like him. Many thanks for reading this advert. If you think Rex is for you, please message and we will take it from there. Thanks again, Lee.
