Description
Marmalade has a wonderful, sweet and gentle temperament. He is a very handsome orange roan. Stunning in fact!
Marmalade loves his walks and is good on the lead.
Good with people and other dogs. He is nervous initially and needs reassurance before saying hello.
Marmalde has been left for four hours and was fine. He tends to just stay in his bed. Not destructive.
Toilet trained.
Seems unfazed by noises in the home and outside.
Not a fan of going out in the rain.
Marmalade is vet estimated at @ 18 months old however his energy level is low at the moment. He is happy to watch from his bed. This may well change as he relaxes in his new home. Considering his age, he is very well behaved.
Marmalade is in foster with a sassy female Breton who tries to play with him but he isn’t keen. He has just started playing with toys but if Clara joins in, he tends to walk away. So, if there is a resident dog, Marmalade needs a friendly, kind dog to show him the ropes rather than a dog who wants to play with him.
Marmalade (also called Jem in foster) needs a patient, experienced adopter who has the time to devote to him. While he is the most wonderful, calm dog, it will most likely take him more time to adjust to changes than most due to his past life.
IDEAL HOME:
A single person or couple with or without a dog. If there is a dog in the home already, it needs to be a kind, confident dog. Marmalde doesnt need a playmate.
Maramalde will need adopter(s) who are prepared to be very patient with him and take it slowly. No going to noisy cafes or busy places from the get go. He will need a very slow, considered introduction to his new life.
Although he could live solso, ideally he would like a welcoming calm resident dog in the family, who will help him with his confidence. He will also need somebody at home for a good part of the day, especially in the early days.
Rescued recently from a rural pound, Marmalde was understandably scared of everything around him. Now in foster he has really come out of his shell. He is the sweetest, most affectionate dog. He is still nervous of new people when he first meets them, so a low-activity home without children (or possibly older children) would be better for him. He really wants to be friends with the humans he meets, but he waits until he is sure that they are not going to harm him, before he makes a commitment so his adopter must be patient and understand his need to be introduced to new people, dogs and situations in his own time.
BACKGROUND . Marmalade was picked up by a rural municipal pound in Southern Spain. He was living on the streets where he was constantly attacked by other local dogs who didn't want this new addition to their pack (you can see the injuries to his nose). When he arrived at the shelter he was understandably nervous. Now in foster in the UK, Marmalade is flourishing. He just needs a kind adopter(s) to help him truly blossom.
