Description

Matilda or Tilly as she is affectionately known in her Foster home is a medium sized girl who was rescued from the streets in Romania She was taken under the care of Pawprints and travelled to the UK in December 2025. Tilly is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped She has a cropped tail and no known health issues Tilly’s backstory is particularly sad, she originally had a home in Romania but her family sold their home and threw her onto the streets When she refused to leave they beat her Despite her heartbreaking past Tilly is a friendly, affectionate and loving girl Her ability to trust and love remains unchanged and she has thrown herself into life with her foster family with great enthusiasm! Tilly currently lives alongside two other dogs, she enjoys walks and playing with them There have been no food guarding issues (although the dogs are fed separately) and the resource guarding issues that presented initially are now resolved To begin with Tilly was possessive with the new human in her life, she did not like to share him and growled and reacted towards the other dogs if he interacted with either of them This was understandable given her traumatic past and as Tilly has settled and gained confidence she has accepted her place within the home and this behaviour is no longer an issue Her Foster Dad says “Initially she craved attention but she is now chilled and accepts being a member of the pack”. Tilly’s forever family will have to ensure that they follow guidance and recommendations from Pawprints to avoid a reoccurrence of this situation With clear boundaries in place and slow, steady integration we are sure Tilly can settle in and reap the full benefits of family life We feel she could live equally well with a doggy friend or as an only dog Tilly does not currently live with cats but has shown a prey drive so we do not advise that she lives with cats or other small furries Tilly does not live with children either but she encounters them in the neighbourhood and while out on walks She has always been supervised during these interactions and behaved appropriately and respectfully, enjoying and appreciating the fuss and attention We think Tilly would make a wonderful addition to a family with dog savvy children aged 8 years plus Tilly has accepted visitors into her new home with no issues She is toilet and crate trained and her Foster Dad describes her “as very easy to look after” She sleeps well overnight in the kitchen now after an unsettled few nights when she first arrived The radio is left on in the background. Tilly has been left for periods of up to 4 hours with the other dogs in the home This is something that her Foster family have worked on as typically they are around most of the day There is nothing to indicate that this cannot continue in Tilly’s future home but potential adopters should be aware that this is something that will have to be built up to and not something that can happen immediately Tilly accepts a harness and lead and behaves “exceptionally well” She doesn’t pull and copes well with the light traffic she encounters while out and about She is friendly and non reactive towards other dogs and people she meets but can be excitable when seeing cats and other small furries in woodland She travels very well in the car, spending most of journeys she has been on sleeping on the back seat with a harness and seatbelt on Her foster states “she is the best traveller I have had” She has visited the local Vet and Dog Groomer to collect her doggy siblings on occasion and interacted well with the staff and other dogs present Tilly’s Foster has the following to say about her : “Matilda is a very loving creature with minimal barking Responds well to "no" and does not cause any issues No issues with toy quarding and enjoys play fighting with my rom. Brilliant on a walk unless she comes across a cat or other small furries. Great in the garden . She is a very settled girl who thrives on human contact. Integrated well with other dogs and shares her home very well She is fed twice daily. Breakfast and 4pm. Currently on dry food with occassional wet meals. Toilet is good . Tilly goes outside with my 2 dogs and is fine in the garden. I have not allowed her off lead and she is kept secure when out and about on the recommended double harness and leads.”
